Seven ways people earn extra money from home, and by the end, you'll know exactly how each one works, step by step. Some start with a design, others with your voice. And number one starts with a language you already speak. Number seven: sell craft designs and fonts as downloads.
Hand lettering, drawings and patterns for other crafters are the kind of work sold here. On Creative Fabrica, you start with an account, because you must have one before applying to open a store. Then, on your account page, you find the sell your designs section and click Open a store. The form asks for your full name, your store name, links to existing stores and your portfolio.
It also asks why you want to be a designer there. The team looks for high quality designs and evidence that the portfolio belongs to you. If your request is rejected, you can submit a new store request. To set up the store, you go to your dashboard, click Account, then the plus sign under Logo.
You can also add a store banner, a store name and an About section. Then you upload your products, and the team checks each one before publishing it. The page says designers earn each time a customer downloads their product, and the designer membership is completely free. Products are published within one working day after the check, as the page states.
You request payouts from your wallet, and each is paid within seven days of the request. For example, a set of hand-drawn flower outlines could be offered as a download for card makers. Designers are also free to sell on other platforms, according to the page. A store opens only after the team approves the application, and every product is checked before it is published.
Selling rules can differ where you live. Number six: put your designs on clothes printed only when someone orders. Drawings, lettering and short original phrases can all become printed designs. On Spreadshirt, you create an account first if you are not yet registered as a Partner.
This gives you access to your Partner Area, where you upload designs and set up your Showroom. In the Partner Area you can also create products and monitor your sales. Product categories are grouped in three supercategories, which you choose from when you upload a design. You have the option of using an AI tool for the title, description and tags of your designs.
Uploading designs is completely free of charge, because orders are made on demand. Spreadshirt only prints a product featuring your design when a customer orders it. So nothing gets printed ahead of time while your designs wait for a first order. Each product sold with your design carries a design price, which Spreadshirt calls the partner share.
It depends on the country of sale, product category and sales channel, and discount codes are deducted proportionally. Credit for an order can be seen fourteen days after it has been dispatched. Compensation is paid once a month, providing you've reached the payout limit. For example, a short, original phrase in a clean font could become a design on a T-shirt.
Free-shipping promotions are always paid for entirely by Spreadshirt, according to the page. Designs are refused if rights can't be traced to you, and the price depends on the country of sale. Selling rules and payouts can differ where you live. If guides like this help you, subscribe: every step in this video comes from each platform's own help page, linked below.
Number five: record voice-overs for clients and deliver them online. Clients post projects, and voice actors send proposals with a sample of their voice. On Voice123, you begin with the Standard free membership, to get a feel for both voice-over work and the site. Once you have professionally produced samples, you can upgrade your membership.
As a free member, your profile appears in the voice actor database. Clients can find you there using the search on the site, so your profile is how they reach you. To audition, you log in, open the Projects tab on the left and select a project. Then you review the project specs and click Submit a proposal.
You upload a sample with your proposal, then add your proposed budget in the currency of your choice. You also select whether that amount is negotiable. There's no limit to the number of proposals you can submit per day on the platform. Invitations depend on your ranking score as well as your membership level.
Eight business days is the release window the page gives after the final recording is accepted. The service is free to all voice actors, and there are five different payment methods to receive your funds. For example, a short narration for a training video could get a proposal with your sample and a budget. Voice123 holds the payment securely until the final recording is accepted.
Free members are invited when projects still need proposals after paid members, and fees are agreed with each client. Rules for this kind of work can differ where you live. Number four: care for dogs in your own home. Dogs stay with you overnight or for the day, depending on the service.
On Pawshake, registering as a pet sitter is 100% free, with no subscription fee. The team reviews your application and replies via email within seven days of applying. You must be at least eighteen years of age to be a sitter. The page expects at least three years of experience with pets and availability on at least two weekdays.
Dog Boarding is twenty-four-hour overnight care for a dog in your home, as the page describes. Doggy Day Care is care for a dog during the day in your home. You set your own rates for the services you would like to offer. Default prices are a suggested starting point, changed in your profile under Services.
Your rates need to be within a certain range, and bookings must be confirmed and paid for via Pawshake. Pawshake pays the sitter automatically within eight business days after the booking ends, into your bank account. 81% is the share of your advertised price that you receive from each booking. Pawshake keeps a contribution of 19% out of each booking.
By our count, a twenty-dollar booking leaves $16 and twenty cents after the 19% contribution. That is 81% of $20, which is the share you receive from the booking. Pawshake runs only where it operates, and each sitter is responsible for following local regulations. Rules for caring for pets at home can differ where you live.
That's past the halfway mark: designs, printed clothes, voice work and dog care so far. The last three cover services, courses and language lessons, with the best last. Number three: sell a small service as a ready-made Offer. Buyers pay a fixed price for a clearly described piece of work.
On PeoplePerHour, applying takes three steps, starting with verifying your email. The application form then asks for your profile picture, job title, location, top skills and language. After that, you submit the application and choose one of the two subscriptions. The moderation team then gets to work and reviews your application.
Next, you click Post an Offer on the header, which takes you to the Post an Offer page. There you add a detailed and clear description of exactly what the buyer will receive. You upload original images and set the maximum number of days you need to deliver. The price must be fixed, not per hour, and the buyer pays it upfront as a deposit in Escrow.
When the work is done, you raise an Invoice in the WorkStream, and the buyer releases the money. Funds can be withdrawn after the clearing period, about fourteen working days. Five days is the longest delivery time for an Offer, which the page calls an express job. Freelancers can also set their availability status using a switch in the main menu.
For example, proofreading a short document or designing a logo could be posted as an Offer. A service fee is charged on earnings, and it gets smaller as billing with one buyer grows. Applications are reviewed by a moderation team, and Offers are limited to work delivered within five days. Rules for freelance work can differ where you live.
Number two: turn what you know into an online course. A skill or subject you can explain step by step becomes video, audio or PDF lessons. On Thinkific, you start from the Admin Dashboard and go to Products. Then you select Courses and click New course to start building your course from there.
Content goes in three ways: the AI Course Outline Generator, individual lessons, or bulk upload. Bulk uploads use the Content Uploader, which accepts video, audio and PDF content for your lessons. You can think of chapters as containers that hold one or more lessons. The course card shows the course name, an image, a short description, the price and the number of lessons.
Before publishing, you set up a payment integration for your course. You also uncheck Draft on the lessons you want students to be able to see. Then you preview your course as a student, to see it the way students will. Payouts are scheduled periodically, based on your location, and deposited directly into your bank account.
Around 2.9% plus thirty cents per sale is what most payment processors charge, the page says. Thinkific plans are offered in monthly or yearly subscriptions, and there is also a Free plan. For example, a skill you use at work, like building spreadsheets, could become a short course of video lessons. Its lessons could go up in bulk through the Content Uploader, as video files.
Payment fees and payout schedules depend on where you and your students are located. Fees and rules can differ where you live. Number one: teach a language you speak in online lessons. A microphone, a webcam and a stable internet connection are the equipment the page lists.
On italki, you apply on the teacher site, using a computer or laptop rather than the phone or app. You choose one teacher type, either Professional Teacher or Community Tutor, when you apply. Professional Teachers upload documents showing their training or experience as an educator. Community Tutors focus on conversation practice with their students.
Applicants will be notified of the result within ten business days. After a pre-approval email, onboarding is completed within fifteen calendar days. Onboarding means uploading your identity document, completing the guided tutorials and passing the quizzes. Then you set up your account, and lessons run through video tools.
You set your price per lesson, from five to $120 for a Community Tutor. Professional Teachers set theirs from ten to $120, with no commission on trial lessons. 21% is the commission on a single lesson. A five-lesson package has 19%, a ten-lesson package 17%, and withdrawals carry no italki fee.
By our count, a twenty-dollar single lesson leaves $15 and eighty cents after the 21% commission. That is $20 minus $4 and twenty cents, which is the commission on one lesson. Each person can have only one teacher account and one teacher type, and an application can be declined. Rules for teaching online can differ where you live.
So, seven ways: Creative Fabrica for craft designs, Spreadshirt for printed clothes, Voice123 for voice-overs, and Pawshake for dog care. Then PeoplePerHour for ready-made Offers, Thinkific for online courses, and italki for language lessons. Rules and fees differ where you live. So open the platform's own help page first, and check what it asks for in your area.
