Seven ways people earn extra money on weekends, and by the end, you'll know exactly how each one works, step by step. Each one lets you pick your hours, or pause when the week gets busy. And number one lets you host an experience where you live. Number seven: sell clothes you no longer wear, and give them a new home.

It is a weekend task that starts with a closet and a phone camera. On Vinted, you snap a few photos, add a quick description, and set your price. Those three steps are how a listing starts. Once you upload an item, it might get screened automatically to go through a standard check.

The check makes sure it follows the Catalog Rules and the guidelines for selling. When an item sells, buyers pay for shipping, and you get a prepaid label. You also get flexible drop-off options that fit your own schedule. Pack your item and send it from a nearby drop-off point, or choose home collection.

Either way, you pick whichever option suits your weekend better. If the week gets busy, go to your Profile, select Vacation mode, and toggle the Hide my items button. You can turn it on or off at any time, and it hides your listings for up to ninety days. The fee for uploading your items or selling them on Vinted is $0.

When a sale closes, you receive the full selling price straight to your Vinted Wallet. Picture it as a simple weekend plan built from things already in your closet. For example, a jacket you no longer wear could be photographed and listed on a Saturday afternoon. Sellers must send the item within five business days after it's bought, unless the buyer agrees to extend this deadline.

Selling rules can differ where you live. Number six: sell items with a planned break, so you decide when selling stops. That keeps your weekends yours when the rest of the week fills up with other things. On eBay, you use a feature called Time Away to schedule how long you'll be away.

You can also choose whether to pause your sales or allow them to continue while you are away. If you allow item sales, your time away can be up to fifteen days. With sales allowed, your listings stay visible, and buyers can still purchase your items. While sales continue, buyers see a message at the top of your listings.

It lets buyers know that you are on time away, so they know what to expect. Choosing to pause item sales instead lets your time away run up to thirty days. That is the longer of the two options, and it suits a fuller week. Paused listings re-appear automatically when the break ends, so you do not need to edit them.

That means you return to the same shop you left, with nothing to redo. Thirty days is the longest break you can take when you pause item sales. The shorter fifteen-day limit applies when you allow sales to continue during your time away. Time Away also fits shorter breaks, within those limits.

For example, a weekend seller could pause sales during a busy week and return to the same listings. Time away with sales allowed lasts at most fifteen days, and buyers see the time-away message. Selling rules can differ where you live. If guides like this help you, subscribe: every step in this video comes from each platform's own help page, linked below.

Number five: sell things you make on your own schedule, one weekend project at a time. Your shop can follow your weekends, and you decide how busy it gets. On Etsy, you set processing times, which is how much time you need to get an order ready. Those ship-by dates help buyers know when you'll ship items from your shop.

Processing time covers the time you need before handing off to a mail carrier. Setting it to match your weekend hours helps buyers know what to expect. With Vacation Mode on, buyers can still visit your shop and message you. But your listings are hidden from search and cannot be purchased during that time.

A custom announcement and auto-reply can be set up before or after turning Vacation Mode on. Vacation Mode stops new incoming orders while it stays on, which gives you room. Through your Shop Manager on Etsy.com or the Etsy Seller app, you switch Vacation Mode on or off. That means the setting is available from the website or the app.

Six and a half percent is the transaction fee on the total order amount in your designated listing currency. Separately, the listing fee is twenty cents for each listing you create. A little arithmetic shows how that percentage works on a small order. By our count, on a twenty-dollar order, the six and a half percent fee is $1 and thirty cents.

Vacation Mode does not remove your responsibility for open orders. Selling rules and taxes can differ where you live. Number four: take a few hours of freelance work a week, on terms that suit you. Your hours per week are yours to choose, which suits a weekend-focused plan.

On Upwork, you click on your profile picture and select Your profile to begin. Then you scroll down to Hours per week and choose the hours you want to offer. Clients want to know your availability, and the hours setting is where you tell them. Knowing whether you're available for ten hours or forty can help them make a faster choice.

Some clients are looking for just a few hours a week from the right expert. So a small block of weekly hours is something you can choose to offer. You'll see the fee percentage when a client sends you an offer, or when you submit a proposal. So you always know the exact fee that applies beforehand.

The fee is what you pay on your Upwork earnings, and it applies per contract. Once your contract begins, the fee is fixed and won't change for that contract. The fee on Upwork earnings ranges from zero to 15% per contract. That range covers every contract, from the lowest fee to the highest one you might see.

For example, Upwork's own page walks through the math for a 10% fee. In that example, an hourly rate of $22 and twenty-two cents leaves $20 after the fee. The fee differs from contract to contract, and you see it before you accept. Rules for freelance work can differ where you live.

That's past the halfway mark: clothes, items, handmade things and freelance hours so far. The last three bring services, deliveries and local experiences, with the best last. Number three: offer a small service with set availability, and keep the rest of your time yours. You choose when new orders can come in, which suits a weekend plan well.

On Fiverr, you build a Gig from a title, category, pricing packages, a description, requirements, and a media gallery. Once you publish, your Gig goes through an automatic review. Fiverr's Availability feature lets you set a time frame when you cannot receive new orders or messages. It is the setting for your break dates.

After logging in, click your profile image and select Dashboard from the menu that opens. Then click the Available status to open the break options for your account. Select a first day, which can be today's date or a future date, and the last day. That sets your scheduled break, and you will automatically become available again when it ends.

Your Gigs will remain visible to clients when you set yourself as unavailable. Clients will not be able to place a new order while you are marked as out of the office. Freelancers receive 80% of the client's cleared payment once an order is completed. Clients with an active order can still message you, and you are expected to deliver as agreed.

A quick example shows how that percentage turns into dollars once an order is cleared. By our count, on a forty-dollar order, 80% is $32. Funds are subject to a fourteen-day clearing period before they become available for withdrawal. Rules for freelance work can differ where you live.

Number two: deliver food when you go online, for as long as you like. You can start delivering whenever you want, for an hour, a weekend, or throughout the week. On Uber Eats, you sign up to be a delivery person and consent to a screening. You also upload the required documents and a photo to finish signing up.

Going online in the Driver app is how you start once you are ready to be a delivery driver. It sits right after the sign-up, screening, and documents. Each order shows its fare before you accept it. That way you decide on each delivery before you commit to it.

Your ways to deliver include a car, a bike, or going on foot. You choose among the options offered where you live. Staying offline is the pause: you only deliver while you are online in the Driver app. That is how a weekend of deliveries stays separate from the rest of your week.

Earnings can be automatically transferred to your bank account if you prefer to receive them weekly. The weekly transfer is an option you can choose. You choose when to go online, for an hour or for a weekend. For example, someone could go online a few hours on Saturday and stay offline the rest of the week.

The documents, the screening, and the ways to deliver all depend on where you sign up. Delivery rules can differ where you live. Number one: host an experience where you live, on the days you choose. You share the places and skills you know best, on a schedule you set for yourself.

On Airbnb Experiences, you first share a bit about yourself and about the experience you want to host. Then you add details, photos, and itineraries to describe what guests will do. Next, you set your pricing for the experience, the final detail before the listing is ready. Finally, you submit your listing for the Airbnb team to review.

The review process typically takes a few weeks. It is free to create and submit a listing for review on Airbnb. Airbnb lets you sync your calendar, set availability, and fill gaps in your day. Setting availability is how you choose the days you want to host your experience.

You'll typically get paid the day after hosting an experience, once the booking is complete. That typically means a Saturday experience could be paid out on Sunday. Airbnb automatically deducts a 20% service fee from the payout of every experience booked. The percentage is taken from each payout, so it shows up on every booking.

Working the percentage out on a sample booking makes the fee easy to picture. By our count, on a sixty-dollar booking, the 20% fee is $12, so the payout is $48. Whether you need a license depends on the type of listing you're creating as well as local regulations. Rules for hosting can differ where you live.

So, seven ways: clothes on Vinted, timed breaks on eBay, handmade items on Etsy, and freelance hours on Upwork. Then small services on Fiverr, deliveries with Uber Eats, and local experiences on Airbnb. Rules for this kind of work differ where you live. So open the platform's own help page first, and check what it asks for in your area.
