This is how Vinted works, step by step, for beginners. By the end, you'll know how to list an item, sell it, ship it and get paid. Seven steps take you from a new account to your first withdrawal. And step six shows the exact day a sale counts as complete.
Step 1: Create your Vinted account
Step one: create your Vinted account. Every later step, from the first listing to the last withdrawal, happens inside this one account. Vinted offers four ways to sign up: with an email address, or with one of three outside accounts. Your password has seven or more characters, including at least one numeral, and it can't match your username.
If a username is already taken, Vinted asks you to choose another one. You tick the checkbox for the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy. Each person keeps one account, since Vinted doesn't allow multiple accounts. Depending on the sign-up method, you may be asked to verify your email address within seven calendar days.
Signing up with an outside account verifies the email automatically. Your account stays in the market where you create it, because currencies and payment providers differ. Someone who moves abroad can create a new Vinted account there. Vinted is designed for people aged eighteen and older.
For example, a verified profile and a short About me message can help buyers feel more comfortable buying from you. Under eighteen, a parent or guardian sets up and oversees the account, with full responsibility for it. Age and account rules can differ where you live.
Step 2: Activate your Vinted Wallet
Step two: activate your Vinted Wallet, called Vinted Balance in some places. Selling needs the Wallet to be active, so this step comes before the first listing. The Wallet stores the money from your sales, and you can spend it on Vinted. You can also withdraw it to your bank account, or let it pay your next purchase.
You need the Wallet active to start selling, but not to buy. Activating it before you start selling means everything's ready when a sale comes in. You select the profile icon, then Wallet, then Activate Wallet. Next you enter your personal details on that screen, including your full name, date of birth and address.
Vinted's payment service provider stores your information safely. By activating the Wallet, you become that provider's client and a user of its payment services. Later, you can't edit your first name, last name or date of birth yourself. Those three details are corrected by Vinted's support team instead.
The Wallet shows two balances: Pending balance and Available balance. A buyer's payment shows first as Pending balance, and step six explains when it becomes available. For example, someone who activates the Wallet before listing is ready the moment a first buyer pays. The Wallet has to be active before or during your first sale, otherwise the order may be canceled automatically.
The Wallet only holds money from sold items, and you can't top it up. With that set, you can move on to photographing and listing your first item. If guides like this help you, subscribe: every step in this video comes from Vinted's own Help Center, linked below.
Step 3: Photograph your item and list it with Vinted's upload form
Step three: photograph your item and list it with Vinted's upload form. A detailed description makes a listing easier to find and more appealing to buyers. The form asks for clear photos, a title, a description, a category and the brand. Then come the true condition, a price and a package size, and No brand covers unbranded items.
Your first photo shows the entire item, never a collage, in natural daylight. Lamplight, flash and filters are best avoided, and your own photos are used, never images found online. Photos from several angles help, with close-ups of labels and important features. Any flaws or defects appear in the photos and are named in the description.
The title gives specific details such as the brand, color, type or unique features. Those details replace vague words like nice or pretty. The description gives the measurements, any alterations, any flaws, and materials beyond the three the form offers. If you haven't finished, you save a draft and return to it later on a phone or the website.
Twenty is the most photos one listing can have. A set of up to five items can go in one listing, with a first photo showing all of them. For example, a jacket with a small mark shows the whole jacket first, then a close-up of the mark. A new item may get an automated check, usually up to a minute, sometimes up to three or four days.
Identical items go in one listing, and every flaw appears in both the photos and the description. With the listing ready, the next step is choosing a price and answering offers.
Step 4: Set your price and answer the offers that come in
Step four: set your price and answer the offers that come in. Vinted's Make an offer feature lets buyers suggest a different price for an item. There are no selling fees on Vinted when you list and sell an item. Buyers pay a mandatory Vinted fee and the shipping at checkout.
A buyer can press Make an offer and choose a price up to 40% less than the original. You accept or reject it, or make a counteroffer with a different price of your own. Offers aren't binding, so the item stays available to other members until someone presses Buy now. When a member favorites your item, you can send them an offer that only they can see.
Buyers can send up to twenty-five offers per day, with no limit on offers a seller makes. Offers apply only to the item, never to shipping or fees. A Bundle discount, set in your settings, applies when a buyer bundles more than one of your items. The bigger the discount, the more members are interested in buying more than one item.
Bump is an optional paid feature that shows an item higher in newsfeeds and search results. It lasts three or seven days in a row, and its cost depends on the item's price and the duration. 40% is the most an offer can go below the price. An offer lower than that can't be sent through Make an offer.
By our count, on a twenty-dollar item, the lowest offer a buyer can send is $12. That works out because 40% of twenty is eight, and twenty minus eight leaves twelve. The Vinted fee is usually a percentage of the item's price plus a fixed amount, paid by the buyer. The exact fee at checkout can differ where you live.
That's past the halfway mark: account, wallet, listing and price so far. The last three cover shipping, the completed sale and your withdrawal.
Step 5: Pack the sale and ship it with the label Vinted sends
Step five: pack the sale and ship it with the label Vinted sends. Each sale comes with a prepaid label, because the buyer has already paid for the shipping. At checkout, the buyer chooses a shipping provider from the options you offer. Shipping rates depend on the package size and on where the buyer and the seller are.
In your settings, you choose which shipping options to offer. Your shipping options depend on your location, and more options give buyers more delivery choices. After the sale, Vinted sends a prepaid shipping label to your email and your Vinted inbox. Instructions come with it, saying whether to print it and where to drop off the package.
You pack the item properly and use that order's label, since a different label cancels the order. If you need more time, you can ask the buyer for three or five more business days. Tracking can take up to forty-eight hours to update after you send the item. Pressing I confirm I've sent the order keeps the order from being canceled while it updates.
You have five business days to send the item once you receive an order. Business days are Monday to Friday, without weekends and public holidays. By our count, five business days after a Friday sale is the next Friday. Weekends don't count, as long as no public holiday falls in between.
After a sale, the carrier, label type, address and package size can't be changed. Carriers and drop-off options can differ where you live.
Step 6: The buyer confirms, and the sale completes
Step six: the buyer confirms, and the sale completes. The money from a sale moves from pending to available during this step. When a buyer pays, the payment shows as Pending balance in your Wallet. You can't use it yet, because Vinted's payment service provider holds it until the order completes.
After the order status updates to delivered, the buyer has two days to respond. They press Everything is OK or I have an issue, whichever matches what arrived in the package. The order completes when the buyer presses Everything is OK. It also completes two days after delivery without confirmation or an issue, or when a raised issue is resolved.
Once the order is completed, you receive the payment within two days. It then moves from Pending balance to Available balance, so the Wallet shows what you can use. Your payment history shows each payment you received, so you can look back at every sale. Available balance can go to your bank account, or pay for purchases, including the Vinted fee and shipping.
Two days is the time a buyer has after delivery to confirm or report an issue. That window is what moves a delivered order toward completion. By our count, an order delivered on a Monday, with no issue reported, completes by Wednesday. The payment then shows as available within two more days, by Friday.
If the buyer raises an issue, the order completes once it is resolved. With the order completed, the last step is moving the money to your bank account.
Step 7: Move the money to your bank account with a withdrawal
Step seven: move the money to your bank account with a withdrawal. After step six, the available balance is ready for this last move. Withdrawals are transfers of money from your Vinted Wallet to your bank account. You add your bank details to your account first, before the first withdrawal.
Then, in your Wallet, you press Withdraw to bank account. Only money from completed orders can be withdrawn, so Pending balance can't be moved until the order is completed. The withdrawal history shows the amount and the date and time it started. It also shows your bank details partly hidden, and the date the money arrived or is expected.
The same bank account can't receive withdrawals from different Vinted accounts. Vinted's payment service provider may ask for an identity check, and withdrawals pause until it is complete. You can follow each withdrawal in the history until the money arrives. The history also lets you pick a year to review past withdrawals.
A withdrawal can take up to five business days to arrive in your bank account. Weekends and public holidays don't count toward those days. For example, money left in your balance can pay for your next Vinted purchase instead. If you don't withdraw it, the balance applies to that purchase automatically.
Withdrawals go to a bank account in the currency of the market where your account is registered. Payout and tax rules can differ where you live. So, seven steps: you create your account, activate the Wallet, and photograph and list an item. Then you set a price, answer offers, ship the sale, let the buyer confirm, and withdraw.
Fees, shipping options and payout rules differ where you live. So open Vinted's own Help Center first, and see what it says for your area. What's the first item you'd list? Tell us in the comments.
