Seven ways people sell things they no longer use, and by the end, you'll know exactly how each one works, step by step. Some give you a set price, others let buyers make offers. And number one starts right from your Feed. Number seven: sell old tech, books, games and discs for a quoted price you can see before you send anything.
The price comes first, and the shipping comes after. On Decluttr, you type a media item's barcode into the valuation engine, or scan it with the free app. If Decluttr is buying that item, you receive an instant price. For tech, you search for the item you wish to sell and select the correct model from the results.
Then you choose the condition of your device, and you're good to go. If you can't find the item listed to sell, Decluttr is not accepting it at the moment. Once your tech arrives, the team checks it against the condition you selected. If the device is accepted, your payment is processed at the original price.
If the condition differs, you get a revised price and up to fourteen days to decide. After your order reaches the warehouse and passes the Quality Assessment, payment is issued the next business day. Direct deposits clear within three business days, and digital wallet payments within twenty-four hours. For tech items, the quoted price stays valid for twenty-eight days from the date you place your order.
For media such as books, games and discs, it stays valid for six months. By our count, twenty-eight days gives you four weeks to send a tech item at its quoted price. Twenty-eight divided by seven is exactly four. Decluttr accepts only the items it lists, and the service is available only in the places where Decluttr operates.
Selling rules can differ where you live. Number six: snap and list items for buyers nearby, right from your phone. Nearby buyers can arrange a meet-up to collect the item. On Carousell, you open the app and select Sell, shown as the plus icon.
That starts a new listing for the item you want to pass on to a new owner. Next, you take or choose photos of the item right in the app. Clear pictures help buyers see exactly what is on offer. Then you fill in all the required fields on the form, one by one.
These are the details the app asks for before the listing can go live. At the end of the form, you select List it to publish the listing. Your new item is then placed right at the top of the selected category. When a sale is agreed, you arrange a meet-up at your convenience, and Carousell recommends within five days.
After the hand-over, the page reminds you to exchange reviews for the transaction. Ten is how many photos a single listing can have on Carousell. That leaves room to show the front, the back and any small details that matter. For example, a desk lamp you no longer use could be listed with a few clear photos from different sides.
Photos from several angles show buyers the real shape and condition of the lamp. Carousell runs only in the places where it operates, and some features are only in some places. Selling rules can differ where you live. If guides like this help you, subscribe: every step in this video comes from each platform's own help page, linked below.
Number five: post a classified ad in your area for people nearby to see. Local ads put things you no longer use in front of buyers in your area. On OLX, you start a new ad from the selling button in the app. Then you choose a category and subcategory, and add a title for your ad.
Next, you take or upload photos of what you would like to sell. Good photos let people see the item before they get in touch. After that, you set your price for the item you are selling. That price appears on the ad for buyers to see.
Then you use your current location, or choose another one for the ad. Finally, you post the ad, and it goes live for buyers to see. Who sees the ad can depend on the location you select. Each OLX market also lists its own posting rules on its help page.
Twelve is how many photos OLX's help pages allow for items outside cars and real estate. Each photo can show another side of what you are selling. For example, a bicycle you no longer ride could be posted with photos and a price for buyers nearby. A clear title and the right category help those buyers find it.
Free-ad limits can vary by category and location, and OLX is available only where it runs. Selling rules can differ where you live. Number four: sell clothes you no longer wear, with photos, a short description and a price you pick. Clothes that sit in a drawer can go to someone who will wear them.
On Depop, you choose Sell in the bottom navigation of the app to begin a new listing. Then you add up to four photos and one video. Next, you describe your item in your own words, using up to five hashtags. Words and tags are how you tell buyers what the piece is and how it looks.
You then add the correct category, shipping price, brand and condition. These details help the listing say clearly what you are selling and how it will be sent. Then you decide on an item price, and the app gives suggested prices based on other similar items. When you are happy, you tap Post listing to publish it.
Fees depend on where the seller is based. In some markets there is no Depop selling fee, and elsewhere the selling fee is 10% on all sales. 10% is the selling fee where it applies, and payment processing fees also apply. If a sale is refunded, all the fees are reversed too.
By our count, where the 10% selling fee applies, a thirty-dollar sale has a three-dollar selling fee. Payment processing fees are separate and would come on top of that. Which fees apply depends on where you sell, and Depop is available only where the platform operates. Fees and selling rules can differ where you live.
That's past the halfway mark: tech, nearby buyers, ads and fashion so far. The last three cover offers, no selling fee and your Feed, with the best last. Number three: let buyers make offers on your items, so you can respond to each one. Instead of one fixed number, the price can meet somewhere in the middle.
On eBay, you turn on Allow offers in the Pricing section of your listing. Then you enter the minimum amount you're willing to accept. You can also set your preferences to automatically accept or decline offers of a certain amount. Buyers won't know the limits you choose.
After a buyer makes an offer, you can choose to accept, decline, or make a counteroffer. The choice stays with you, so each offer gets the answer you prefer. When you make a counteroffer on eBay, your response should be lower than the Buy It Now price. It should also be higher than the offer received.
Buyers can make up to three offers per item in most categories. You might get offers from several buyers, and countering each one is fine. Twenty-four hours is how long you have to respond after an offer comes in. Without an answer, the offer expires on its own, or sooner if the listing ends.
By our count, with a fifty-dollar Buy It Now price and a thirty-dollar offer, a counteroffer sits between the two. So it should be more than $30 and less than fifty. Best Offer isn't available in every category, or on an auction that has a Buy It Now price. Selling rules can differ where you live.
Number two: sell clothes with no selling fee, using just a few photos and a quick description. A jacket or a pair of shoes you no longer wear can find a second owner here. On Vinted, you snap a few photos of the item you would like to sell. Then you add a quick description and set the price you would like to ask for it.
There are no fees for uploading your items or selling them on Vinted. You can also list as many items as you like. When an item sells, buyers pay for shipping, so that cost is not yours to cover. You get a prepaid label and flexible drop-off options that fit your schedule.
You pack the item and send it from a nearby drop-off point. You use the shipping option your buyer chose, and you can track the parcel. Once the sale is closed, the full selling price goes straight to your Vinted Wallet. From there, you can spend it on Vinted or withdraw it to your bank account.
Five business days is how long you have to send a sold item. That deadline can be extended when the buyer agrees to it. For example, a pair of shoes that no longer fits could be photographed, described and priced for a listing. Photos, a description and a price are exactly the three things the page lists.
Vinted runs only where it operates, and each upload may be checked against its Catalog Rules. Selling rules can differ where you live. Number one: list items for sale from your Feed, using the Marketplace menu. If you already use Facebook, the listing starts in a familiar place.
On Facebook, you start from your Feed and click Marketplace in the left menu. The steps in this part of the video are the ones the help page gives for a computer. Next, you click Create new listing, and then you click Item for sale. That takes you toward the details of the single item you want to sell.
Then you click Add photos to upload a photo of your item from your computer. After that, you enter the info about your item, including the price you would like to ask. Finally, you click Publish to post your Marketplace listing, and it is ready for people to see. To mark an item as Free, you can enter zero as the price.
You can sell through Marketplace, buy and sell groups or on a Page. Facebook's tips for selling responsibly include meeting in person, using online payment methods and protecting your privacy. You may also be able to offer shipping, depending on where you live. Sellers can also set up a shop on Facebook.
For example, a bookshelf you no longer need could be listed from your Feed with photos and a price. Listing it follows the steps you have just heard. Shipping depends on where you live, and some items can't be listed on Marketplace. Selling rules can differ where you live.
So, seven ways: Decluttr for a quoted price, Carousell for nearby buyers, OLX for local ads and Depop for clothes. Then eBay Best Offer for offers, Vinted with no selling fee, and Facebook Marketplace from your Feed. Selling rules and fees differ where you live. So open the platform's own help page first, and check what it asks for in your area.
